The Singapore flag comprises of two horizontal lines. The red portion symbolises equality and brotherhood.In the red portion there is a crescent which shows that Singapore is a young, growing country and the five stars represent Democracy, Peace, Progress, Justice and Equality. The white portion symbolises Purity and Virtue.

ABOUT SINGAPORE
Singapore is situated in the Southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It comprises of the mainland Singapore and some 59 islets. The popular tourist spot Sentosa is one of them. Sentosa is a beautiful island and it can be accessed by the linking bridge either by foot or by the service bus of Sentosa. Other forms of transport include the ferry from the World Trade Centre as well as the cable cars. Sentosa contains a huge Merlion Tower which allow visitors to have a first-hand view of the Singapore mainland. Other spots include Fantasy island(water theme park), Volcanoland,Underwater World and Asian Village.The timezone of Singapore is ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time by 8 hours.
The population of Singapore is 2.8 million with an annual increase of 2%.The main official languages are English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. The main religions comprise of Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Christianity and Hinduism.
This place is known as Raffles' Place. As seen in this picture, this area consists of many commercial buildings and offices. Right next to it on the right side of the picture, you can see Boat Quay, which actually consists of refurbished old bulidings converted into clubs and restaurants. It is by the Singapore River and is a popular spot for both expatriates, the working class and teenagers.

This is a picture of Raffles Hotel which gained its name from the founder of Singapore, British Sir-Stamford Raffles. This Hotel boasts of plenty of restaurants and shops and it is within easy reach of the city area.
